Pedigree recalls Mixer and complete dry dog food because of high vitamin D levels

Mars Petcare UK recalled a range of Pedigree (and Chappie) dry dog food products because of high levels of vitamin D. High levels of vitamin D fed to a dog over a short period (weeks/months) should not cause undue concern; over a longer period, ingestion of elevated levels can lead to potential health issues depending on the level of vitamin D and the length of exposure.

Affected products: CHAPPIE Complete Chicken & Wholegrain Dry Dog Food 3kg; PEDIGREE Mixer Adult Dry Dog Original 3kg and 10kg; PEDIGREE Adult Complete Dry Dog Food with Chicken & Vegetables 12kg and 2.6kg. Specific batch codes and best-before dates are listed in the official notice.

Point-of-sale notices were displayed in retail stores. Owners were advised to stop feeding the affected batches and to contact the Careline for a refund.
