Naked Dog, a UK raw and fresh dog food brand, has launched a new range of fresh-frozen complete recipes sold direct through the Naked Dog website. The Nakeddog Fresh line sits in the fresh segment of the market, with recipes built around a single animal protein plus vegetables and quinoa.

Four recipes from the new range are now listed and scored: Fresh Pork, Fresh Beef, Fresh Turkey and Fresh Chicken. All four land in our good band.

Recipe Rating
Fresh Pork 86
Fresh Beef 86
Fresh Turkey 86
Fresh Chicken 86

All four recipes score identically, placing the whole range in our good band. The ingredient lists are short and consistent across the line. Each recipe opens with named meat, heart and liver from a single species, with a declared total of 67% for that protein. Fresh Beef also includes beef lungs alongside the other organs.

The declared percentages are a strength here. Every main ingredient carries a figure, from the 10% carrots down to the 1% salmon oil and 1% vitamins and minerals. There are no generic terms like "meat and animal derivatives" or unnamed oils anywhere in the lists, which makes the recipes easy to compare against each other and against rival products.

The supporting ingredients are the same across the range: carrots, broccoli, sweet potato, quinoa and salmon oil. Fresh Beef adds sunflower seeds at 0.8% and drops its sweet potato slightly to 6.2%, but otherwise the four recipes are near-identical in structure. Buyers choosing between them are therefore really choosing between protein sources rather than meaningfully different formulas.

Against the wider fresh-frozen segment, the range lands comfortably above the middle. Across the complete fresh-frozen products we track, the average score is 66 and the median 58, so all four recipes sit well inside the top quarter; only about a fifth score higher. Naked Dog's fresh-frozen average now sits just ahead of Butternut Box, while the segment leaders (Wild Pet Food's 80:20 range, Different Dog and Paws On Plates, all averaging in the low 90s) run higher meat shares, typically 80% meat or 60% named muscle meat, against the 67% total declared here.

What we'd watch

  • The range is built on a single template. Owners of dogs that react to a shared ingredient, such as quinoa or salmon oil, would rule out all four recipes at once.
  • Analytical constituents are worth checking on the product pages before buying, particularly fat for dogs that need a leaner diet: declared fat runs from 4.4% in the pork recipe to 7.8% in the beef.
  • The recipes rely on added vitamins and minerals at 1%. Buyers may want to confirm the food meets FEDIAF nutritional guidelines for their dog's life stage.

We will update these listings if Naked Dog expands the range or changes its recipes.
